Beyond the descending paradigm
A Few Key Points
It is essential to not just distinguish the emergent culture from the descending paradigm, but to collaboratively design our departure from the descending paradigm.
By not providing an alternative, the descending paradigm is the default. It is the thinking in the box that inhibits visionary creation, besides, if we are thinking in terms of “fixing the broken system” we are thinking from a colonized mind. In addition, the linear process of greening the descending paradigm only addresses problems at their current manifestation, keeping us in reaction mode.
Many have heard these quotes circulating the past few years:
“To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” Buckminister Fuller
“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein.
The BCC does exactly this. We need whole systems culture design because we are experiencing whole systems culture collapse. We cannot continue to fix any societal elements in isolation.
Currently we have many emergent culture elements already in existence, unfortunately they are still embedded and dispersed in the descending paradigm. What tragically happens is that these emergent culture elements get co-opted, corrupted and cannot develop beyond infancy. The Bio-Cultural Corridor (BCC) enables us to not only provide an appropriate context in which these can flourish but puts them together within a whole systems design so they can synergize.
